Cairns detectives have launched a homicide investigation following the death of a 67-year-old Bungalow woman after she was located deceased in Cairns this afternoon, September 23.
Around 3.35pm, emergency services were called to a Joan Street address following reports a woman had sustained a critical head injury.
Upon arrival, a 67-year-old woman was located with life-threatening injuries.
Emergency services attempted to revive the woman; however, she was declared deceased at the scene a short time later.
A woman is currently assisting police with enquiries.
A crime scene has been declared and investigations are continuing.
Witnesses, or anyone with further information relating to the incident, is urged to come forward.
