Homicide investigation at Caloundra

Detectives attached to Operation Uniform Bangor have launched a homicide investigation in Caloundra today.

Around 9.30am a 25-year-old woman was taken to a West Terrance hospital suffering an apparent gunshot wound to the head and she died shortly after.

A crime scene was declared at a residence at nearby Moffatt Beach where a forensic examination is taking place.

A man known to the woman is assisting police with enquiries.

There is no ongoing risk to the community.

Investigations are continuing.
