Works to replace the Hoo Hoo Hut at the Trevallyn Nature Recreation Area are now complete.
Originally constructed in the early 1980s by volunteers from the Hoo Hoo Forest Industries Club, the iconic hut was badly damaged during a storm in September 2024.
Liberal Member for Bass, Michael Ferguson, said it was great to see the hut back in action.
"So many Launcestonians have a connection to this place, and we hope that the new hut can continue to provide many more happy moments and memories for families well into the future," Mr Ferguson said.
"Stones from the original fireplace and barbecue site were retained by Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service staff and have been reused in the new bench seating."
Mr Ferguson said the the new and updated features include accessible picnic tables and new gas barbecue facilities to replace the former wood-fired barbecue facilities.
"This new shelter will ensure this popular barbecue spot can be used once again, servicing visitors to the Trevallyn Dam area," Mr Ferguson said.
"Our Liberal Government is delivering for Tasmanians, improving the visitor experience in our unique parks and reserves across Tasmania."
The works were delivered by Mendelssohn Construction and AJR Construct Pty Ltd.
