Hop To Valley Lake/Ketla Malpi This Easter

Hop on down to the Valley Lake/Ketla Malpi this Easter, one of Mount Gambier's favourite outdoor spaces. If you are lucky, you may even find some hidden chocolate eggs in the playground area on Easter Sunday. There are strong rumours that the Easter Bunny is planning a visit to the lakes area.

Easter and the school holiday period are traditionally some of the busiest times of the year at the Valley Lake/Ketla Malpi. Traffic monitoring undertaken during the 2025/2026 Christmas and New Year period recorded an average of 700 vehicles per day entering the area.

In anticipation of the busy holiday period, the City of Mount Gambier has completed a range of targeted maintenance and improvement works throughout the precinct to enhance safety, accessibility and overall visitor experience.

City of Mount Gambier General Manager City Infrastructure Barbara Cernovskis said staff from multiple Council teams have worked collaboratively in recent weeks to prepare the site.

"The Valley Lake/Ketla Malpi remains one of Mount Gambier's most iconic and well used recreational spaces," Ms Cernovskis said.

"With strong traffic numbers recorded during previous peak holiday periods, our teams have been focused on ensuring the area is safe, well maintained and presented to a high standard ahead of the Easter long weekend and upcoming school holidays."
