A vibrant showcase of contemporary Australian art will take centre stage at Wallarobba Arts and Cultural Centre from 12 to 28 September, as Hornsby Shire Council presents the 2025 Hornsby Art Prize Finalists' Exhibition.

The Hornsby Art Prize – delivered by Hornsby Shire Council in partnership with the Hornsby Art Society – continues to attract national attention, with 415 entries received from across the country. This year, 73 outstanding artworks across painting, sculpture, photography, drawing, and printmaking have been shortlisted for exhibition.

The art prize has a total prize pool of $23,000, including a $10,000 major prize.

Hornsby Shire Deputy Mayor Janelle McIntosh said the exhibition is a highlight on the local cultural calendar.

"We're proud to host an event that brings such a high calibre of contemporary art to our community," she said.

"The Hornsby Art Prize not only celebrates artistic excellence but also provides a platform for both emerging and established artists to share their work with a wider audience. Congratulations to all the finalists – your creativity and talent are truly inspiring."

This year's judging panel includes Tim Braham, Director of Gosford Regional Gallery, and artist Stephen Hall.

Chris Beard, President of Hornsby Art Society, added: "It's always a pleasure to partner with Council on this much-loved event. The standard of entries continues to rise, and this year's exhibition promises to be one of the best yet."

Winners of the Hornsby Art Prize, including the Hornsby Shire Local Artist Award, will be announced at an award ceremony on Friday 12 September.

The exhibition is open to the public from 12 to 28 September, Tuesday to Sunday, 10am–4pm. Entry is free.
