A Taylors Hill home was destroyed this morning when a fire broke out after its occupants had left.

The fire was reported shortly before 9am this morning, with fire visible through the roof of the single-storey brick veneer house.

It was extinguished in about 30 minutes by CFA and MFB firefighters.

District 14 Commander Alex Batty said six trucks and 30 firefighters conducted an external and internal attack, with those going inside equipped with breathing apparatus.

Crews were also designated to protect neighbouring properties, which were successfully saved from the impact of the fire.

Firefighters remained on scene for some time extingushing hotspots.

Fire investigators will attend to determine the cause, which is unknown at this stage but not deemed to be suspicious.
