Howqua Reserve Scores Pavilion Upgrade

The Howqua Way Reserve Pavilion has received a facelift.

Construction is now complete on a $1.066 million retrofit of the existing pavilion, which now boasts a significantly larger social room, first aid area, canteen and storage.

The project also included minor rectification works and landscaping.

Wyndham City Mayor and Active City portfolio holder Councillor Peter Maynard said these works formed part of a game-changing sporting pavilion program that is progressively upgrading 14 Wyndham sporting pavilions.

"The Howqua Way Reserve Pavilion upgrade provides a new, better-equipped home for the Manor Lakes Football Club and Manor Lakes Cricket Club," Cr Maynard said.

"The completion of these works marks the seventh pavilion upgrade Wyndham City has delivered in line with the Sports Facility Capital Development Guide."

"This follows the recent $960,000 completion of the Saltwater Soccer Pavilion in Point Cook, which has provided the Point Cook Soccer Club with a larger and refurbished social space, canteen, internal and external storage spaces, a new first aid room and improved shelter for parents and spectators."

"Meanwhile, work is on track for three more sporting pavilion upgrades at Little River Reserve, Goddard Reserve and Saltwater Reserve (tennis pavilion) to be completed in coming months, and construction has begun on two more pavilion upgrades at Tom Roberts Reserve and Arndell Park Reserve."

"Wyndham City is investing $4.8 million over 2022/23 to deliver these important projects, which are delivering new and upgraded sporting facilities that will help boost participation in sport."

"Sport helps bring people together, and these sporting pavilion upgrades deliver the infrastructure our community needs to enjoy active and healthy lives."
