Hughesdale drink driver nabbed

Mount Waverley police intercepted an alleged drunk driver more than five times the limit in Hughesdale Wednesday morning, 22 December.

The Mount Waverley van were called to a dispute at an address on Willesden Road around 10.40am.

The alleged offender had left and as police were leaving the address, they spotted the vehicle and intercepted the driver of a grey Hyundai hatch on Arthur Street, Hughesdale.

The suspended driver of the vehicle, a 40-year-old Hughesdale man, was taken to the Glen Waverley Police Station where he returned an alleged positive evidentiary breath test of .268.

His vehicle was impounded for 30 days at a cost of $932.40 and he is expected to be charged on summons with drink driving and driving whilst his licence was suspended.

This impound forms part of Operation Roadwise, a state-wide road policing operation during the high-risk Christmas period.

Police are targeting impaired driving, speed, distraction, and fatigue in high-risk areas throughout metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.

Operation Roadwise runs until 11:59pm Sunday 26 December 2021.
