Hume Highway closed southbound after truck crash in Mittagong

A truck driver has been taken to hospital following a crash in the Southern Tablelands early this morning, NSW Police say.

The crash happened just after 4am (Thursday 1 November 2018), when a B-double travelling north on the Hume Highway, near Medway Road, Mittagong, left the road, hit the embankment and travelled onto the southbound lanes.

A Ford station wagon travelling south hit the rear of the truck.

The driver of the truck, a 56-year-old man from Minchinbury, was taken to Liverpool Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Ford, 63-year-old man from South Australia, was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

All southbound lanes of the Hume Highway remain closed.

Diversions are in place via the Old Hume Highway.
