Hundreds of sheep killed after stock truck tips near Bathurst at O'Connell

Police are investigating after a heavy vehicle carrying sheep rolled near Bathurst yesterday.

About 10.10am yesterday (Tuesday 5 November 2019), a B-Double stock truck carrying 551 sheep overturned on the O'Connell Road at O'Connell, near 8 Mile Swamp Road.

Officers attached to Chifley Police District responded to the incident, along with NSW Fire Brigade, State Emergency Services, a local vet, Local Land Services staff, and council road crews.

As a result, approximately 225 sheep were reported deceased or required to be euthanised.

The 25-year-old male driver was not injured and returned a negative road side breath test.

No charges have been laid at this stage.

Investigations continue.
