Hunter Valley: Missing Woman's Body Found

A body believed to be that of a woman missing in floodwaters has been located today.

About 7.50pm on Saturday 2 August 2025, emergency services were called to Black Creek on Old North Road, Rothbury, after reports a car had become stuck in floodwater.

Officers attached to Hunter Valley Police District were told a Mini Countryman had attempted to drive through floodwater before it became stuck.

The driver – a 27-year-old woman was rescued, however; her passenger – a 26-year-old woman – was swept away.

The search for the woman continued during daylight hours since the incident, and has involved local police, the Rescue and Bomb Disposal Unit, Marine Area Command, NSW SES, VRA Rescue NSW, and the NSW RFS.

As part of the search, a body was located by VRA Rescue NSW earlier today (Wednesday 6 July 2025).

While the body is yet to be formally identified, it is believed to be that of the missing woman.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
