HW Greenham applies for EPA Works Approval

Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA) is considering a Works Approval application from HW Greenham & Sons Pty Ltd for the construction of a new rendering plan at their existing abattoir at 2121 Finlay Road, Tongala.

The facility once had a rendering plant which was decommissioned in 2004. Greenham is proposing a new rendering plant to convert material from animal processing to saleable products such as tallow and meat meal.

Works Approvals are required under the Environment Protection Act 1970 for industrial and waste management activities that have the potential for significant environmental impact. Greenham will also require approvals from Campaspe Shire Council to construct the facility.

EPA will assess the proposal against all relevant environmental policies and guidelines and look at any potential environmental and human health impacts that could result from the proposed facility.
