Hydroponic drug lab, Willow Vale

A man has been charged with producing dangerous drugs after officers from the Gold Coast Rapid Actions and Patrols (RAP) located an alleged hydroponic cannabis lab during an early morning search of a Willow Vale property, Queensland Police say.

It will be alleged police attended a Bella Boulevard property around 6.20am today (July 5) with officers locating a sophisticated hydroponic setup and a large number of developing and mature cannabis plants.

A 27-year-old local man has been charged with producing dangerous drugs (cannabis), possession of dangerous drugs (cannabis), possession of a utensil and possession of anything used in the commission of a crime (Drugs Misuse Act). He is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on July 28.

A 27-year-old Willow Vale woman is due to appear in the same court on July 31 charged with permitting use of a place.

Senior Sergeant Tracey Hartley, Acting Officer In Charge of Gold Coast RAP said the seizure was a great example of the community working together with police.

"Police will continue to target the people that produce, supply and traffic dangerous drugs.   Every seizure amounts to less drugs in our community, making our community a safer place.

If you notice suspicious activity in your neighbourhood please call Crime Stoppers."
