"I Will Not Be Dropping It, Because I Believe In It"

Tas Labor

Just two months ago Jeremy Rockliff made his intentions clear on privatisation.

"I will not be dropping it, because I believe in it" he said in Parliament on 3 April*.

That's why it's impossible to believe the Premier will keep his word when he's now saying he won't sell off Tasmania's state-owned assets to fix his broken budget.

Tasmanians won't forget that on the eve of Jeremy Rockliff's last early election he stated his stadium wouldn't cost Tasmanians a "red cent more" than $375 million.

Look what happened to that promise. Look how desperate Jeremy Rockliff has become.

He's reached a sad and sorry point where he will say and do whatever he can to try and save his own skin.

Tasmania needs change and Tasmanian Labor stands ready to deliver it.

*Jeremy Rockliff's response to a question asking why he wouldn't drop his privatisation agenda - Hansard, April 3 2025 (footage available from 00:27:30 on Broadcast tab):

"Honourable Speaker, I thank the member for the question. I will not be dropping it, because I believe in it. We have Mr Eslake commissioned to do some work and analysis on these matters. That work will continue."
