In the updated Plan, IAG has strengthened its Resilience Actions interim target, which aims to support Australians and New Zealanders in taking two million actions to understand or mitigate their natural hazard risks by FY30.rn
The target builds on IAG's existing preparedness and resilience programs, including NRMA Insurance's HELP Nation, and recognises the critical role informed action plays in reducing vulnerability to extreme weather and natural hazards.
rn
The Plan also strengthens IAG's Sustainability Capability interim target by committing to embed sustainability as a core organisational capability and within the employee experience by FY30. The target is supported by learning and culture measures, and reflects the important role employees play in managing climate risks, identifying opportunities and supporting resilience across the organisation.
rn
In addition, IAG has introduced a Supply Chain Engagement interim target, aiming to engage 220 strategic supply chain partners on climate action or transition planning by FY30. The target recognises the important role suppliers play in reducing emissions, strengthening resilience and supporting the broader transition to a low-carbon economy.
rn
Ms Stasi said IAG's climate strategy remains centred on balancing mitigation and adaptation efforts while helping communities become more resilient to the impacts of climate change.
rn
"Building resilience is fundamental to addressing the growing risks associated with extreme weather. We believe insurers have an important role to play not only in supporting recovery after catastrophes, but also in helping customers understand and reduce risks before disasters occur," Ms Stasi said.
