Destination Kiama has taken the wraps off the full line up of entertainment for the IGNITE Kiama Winter Festival on Saturday 19 June.

Chair Matt Brown said Destination Kiama was using the darkest depths of winter to light up Kiama Harbour with a celebration of fire, feasting, music and fireworks.

"Kiama is joining other cities and towns around the world in turning a time traditionally for hibernation into a fiery community celebration," Clr. Brown said.

"IGNITE – Kiama Winter Festival is a celebration of our vibrant community, so bring your family and friends to our beautiful harbour for what is going to be a truly memorable experience."

Clr. Brown said the free festival includes fire, arts, culture, food, drink and live entertainment capped by a fireworks grand finale.

Highlights of IGNITE Kiama Winter Festival include:

  • Junkyard Beats: Fire and Rhythm Show
  • Lolo Lovina Gypsy Caravan
  • Live music from The Getups
  • Fire and Glow Show
  • Aerial performances and circus acts
  • Workshops for kids and adults, including ceramic tea light making, rhythmic drumming, neon face painting and colourful hair braiding.
  • Join a game, following the steps of the lost fire-bender monk, deciphering clues and unlocking a hidden temple.
  • Eat Street including fire themed food from around the world from wood-fired pizza, smoked brisket, German sausages and decadent sweets.
  • Festival and cocktail bar by Coal Coast Brewing Co. and Indie and the Bee
  • VIP long table dining experience with The Farmed Table's chef, Brendan Cato
  • Fireworks finale

The activities are centred on Kiama Harbour commencing at 3pm and finishing at 8pm. The fireworks display will light up the sky at the family-friendly time of 7.30pm.

Mayor Mark Honey has thanked Destination Kiama, Kiama and District Business Chamber, Kiama Leagues Club and other sponsors for making IGNITE Kiama Winter Festival possible.

"When COVID forced us to cancel our New Year's Eve fireworks, we hoped to provide another community celebration during the year instead," Clr Honey said.

"I encourage locals and visitors alike to rug up and head down to Kiama Harbour on 19 June to celebrate winter as well as enjoy being together as a community once more."
