Police are investigating after three stolen vehicles drove dangerously around the south-eastern region yesterday, Tuesday 13 January.
Just before 10am, police sighted a stolen 2013 black Volkswagen Tiguan at Worongary being driven by a man, travelling in convoy with a stolen 2016 white Subaru Levorg and a stolen 2014 white Nissan X-Trail.
The Volkswagen had been stolen from Kalang Street at Palm Beach sometime after midnight on 12 January.
The Subaru had been stolen from Thorngate Drive at Robina sometime between 9.30pm on 9 January and 4.30am on 10 January.
The Nissan had been stolen from Chambers Flat Road at Waterford West around 6am on 12 January.
Polair were engaged and aerially tracked the stolen Volkswagen travelling at speed in both directions on the Pacific Motorway.
Around 1pm, the Volkwagen was abandoned in an underground carpark of a Helensvale shopping centre, located on Sir John Overall Drive, where the man entered the stolen 2014 Nissan X-Trail and fled with a female driver.
Officers attended the carpark where they located the stolen Tiguan and stolen Suburu, abandoned. These vehicles have since been recovered.
Polair then tracked the stolen Nissan, with the man and woman onboard, from Discovery Drive.
The Nissan drove north to Logan, operating in a dangerous manner, before returning south on the Pacific Motorway and down to New South Wales.
Around 8.45pm, Polair tracked the vehicle driving dangerously along the Pacific Motorway, requiring a portion of the Highway to be temporarily shut down by police as a safety precaution.
The Nissan had since had its registration plates removed and stolen plates attached.
At 10.10pm, the vehicle was last seen travelling through Merrimac when PolAir was forced to terminate tracking due to dangerous weather conditions.
Investigations continue to locate the stolen Nissan, man and woman.
