More than just a night of light and celebration, Illuminate Raymond Terrace is a shining example of local collaboration, with schools, community groups, volunteers and local services coming together to bring the event to life.
This Saturday 14 June, Boomerang Park will come alive with light, music, and the vibrant spirit of the local community for Illuminate Raymond Terrace.
From 4pm to 8pm, attendees will enjoy a free, family-friendly event featuring live entertainment, interactive art installations, and a spectacular fireworks finale at 7:30pm.
A highlight of this year's festival is the Community Kitchen, where local groups will serve up a range of free or low-cost food, including:
- Traditional stews from Worimi Local Aboriginal Land Council
- Warm soups from the Family Action Centre & The Smith Family's Communities for Children
- Freshly made pancakes from New Life Community Relief
- Hot chocolate from Boomerang Park Preservation Group
The Lions Club and Rotary Club will also be hosting a BBQ and there'll be a range of local food trucks adding to the diverse culinary offerings on the night.
Adding to the community celebrations, over the last few weeks, students from 8 local schools have designed and created lanterns and illuminated artworks that will feature throughout the park. Huge thanks to these participating schools:
- Raymond Terrace Public School
- Grahamstown Public School
- Irrawang Public School
- St Brigid's Primary School
- Thou Walla Schools as Community Centre
- Irrawang High School
- Hunter River High School
- Alesco Secondary College
With food and decorations covered, there's also community groups to thank who are volunteering their time to host stalls on the night, and thanks to members of the Raymond Terrace Men's Shed who have constructed decorative wooden facades for food stalls.
