Images released after assault in Melbourne CBD

Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit detectives are releasing a number of images as part of their investigation into an assault on two men in the Melbourne CBD earlier this year.

The men were attacked by a group of offenders, both men and woman, outside an apartment building in Sutherland Street about 10.50pm on 31 January.

Investigators believe that one of the victims may have had some prior interaction with a member of the group via an on-line social-media app.

One victim, a 23-year-old Melbourne man, was knocked unconscious and repeatedly punched and kicked while on the ground.

He sustained facial injuries as a result of the incident and was subsequently admitted to hospital.

The second victim, a 22-year-old Southbank man, was treated by Ambulance Victoria paramedics at the scene.

Police have released several images of seven men and three women they believe could assist with their enquiries.

Anyone who recognises any of the individuals pictured, or has any information that could assist police is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or file a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
