Important Construction Blueprint Progressed

Australian Constructors Association

The Australian Constructors Association (ACA) welcomes agreement at today's meeting of the National Construction Industry Forum on a process for formal endorsement of the draft 'Blueprint for the Future' by no later than September 2025.

ACA CEO Jon Davies said the agreement signals a rare and powerful alignment between government, industry and unions on both the challenges facing construction and the reforms needed to fix them.

"We're all on the same page—productivity must improve, project outcomes must get better, and we must make construction a more attractive career for more Australians," said Mr Davies.

With productivity in construction lagging well behind other sectors, Australia is missing out on an estimated $60 billion in economic value every year.

"Productivity is the industry's biggest challenge, and tackling it is key to delivering better results for taxpayers and a better experience for the people doing the work," said Mr Davies.

"It's great to hear that the work of the NCIF will feed directly into the Government's upcoming Productivity Summit process. It shows momentum is building for real change."

The ACA also welcomed agreement on the NCIF's next phase of work (post endorsement), leveraging existing reform initiatives and undertaking further work to turn the blueprint's recommendations into tangible outcomes.

"This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to fundamentally change how construction operates in Australia," said Mr Davies.

"We look forward to working closely with our partners across all levels of government, industry and the union movement to drive the change our industry—and the country—urgently needs."
