Ag workers are encouraged to specifically record their occupation details in the upcoming Census to help build better understanding of our ag workforce.
Minister for Agriculture and Northern Australia David Littleproud said ag workers shouldn't sell themselves short this Census.
"Farmers, fishers and foresters are the backbone of our rural economy, and the key to achieving the target to grow agriculture to $100 billion by 2030," Minister Littleproud said.
"Farm workers aren't all the same, and we need our ag workforce to show off their experience and skills. This has never been more important that now with global pandemic focussing Government and the farming sector on the needs of the industry.
"I encourage all ag workers to be specific when they record their occupation in the Census on Tuesday 10 August. Better data makes for better decisions and means government and industry can respond to the needs of our agriculture workforce and community.
"Population Census data provides a snapshot of us as a nation and changes over time. It helps government decision-making processes and policy."
