At 6:35pm on Sunday 21 November 2021, police were called to attend an assault at the Old Beach Retreat caravan park at Wynyard, with a woman having been struck by a man to the head with a hammer. She remained conscious.
A small fire was also required to be extinguished at the location.
Police units from Burnie, Wynyard and Criminal Investigation attended, as well as Tasmania Ambulance Service and the Tasmania Fire Service personnel.
A man was arrested at the scene without incident and is assisting police with their enquires.
The woman involved was treated for her injuries at the North West Regional Hospital, Burnie.
The parties involved are known to each other.
The matter is being investigated by the Burnie Criminal Investigation Branch.
