For the first time in regional NSW, Dubbo will host the Inclusive Education Conference.
This practical conference will be held for people supporting children and young people with a disability, as well as for those under 25 years old living with a disability.
The conference provides a professional development and learning opportunity for families, educators, allied health professionals and support networks and will create a space to share conversations, strategies and ideas.
The conference will be held on Monday 19 October 2026 from 9am until 3pm at the Dubbo RSL Club.
Down Syndrome NSW Education and Employment Manager Alison Maunder said families and educators in regional communities deserve access to the same high-quality information and professional learning opportunities as those in metropolitan areas.
This conference brings families, educators, allied health professionals and community organisations together to share knowledge, build connections and learn from one another.
We want people to leave with practical strategies they can use straight away, as well as a stronger understanding of the support and expertise available in their community." Ms Maunder said.
The conference will feature two dedicated streams, allowing participants to choose content most relevant to their stage and journey. Stream One will focus on birth through to primary school, exploring practical approaches to inclusion, learning and support. Stream Two will focus on high school and beyond, covering secondary education, transitions, employment, independence and future planning for young people.
Attendees will take part in practical workshops, hear from experienced speakers, connect with support services and exhibitors, and gain real-world strategies that can be applied in classrooms, homes and everyday life.
Dubbo Regional Council Mayor Josh Black said Council was proud to be partnering with Down Syndrome NSW to bring the Inclusive Education Conference to regional NSW for the first time.
Hosting the event in a regional location like Dubbo provides people with access to learning and networking opportunities that would otherwise be out of reach," Clr Black said.
Travel assistance is available for people travelling outside of Dubbo.
This conference is a collaboration with Down Syndrome NSW, Dubbo Regional Council and Scrap Heap Adventure Ride who funded the event.
