Indecent assault charge in Sutherland

A man will appear in court today after a girl was allegedly indecently assaulted on a train in Sydney’s south yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 11am (Sunday 3 December 2017), a 14-year-old girl and two friends were travelling on a train between Sutherland and Miranda.

A man sat behind the group and allegedly touched the girl.

The girl and her friends moved away before getting off at Miranda and informed City Rail staff who notified police.

Officers from Miranda Local Area Command attended and arrested a 50-year-old man nearby.

He was taken to Sutherland Police Station charged with indecent assault and common assault.

The man was refused bail to appear at Sutherland Local Court today (Monday 4 December 2017).

Police are urging anyone who believes they may be a victim of a crime such as this, to call Miranda Police or Crime Stoppers.
