Independent panel supported by Australian Sports Commission

The Australian Sports Commission (ASC) is supporting the work of Swimming Australia to create a safer swimming community.

The ASC will provide operational support to the independent panel headed by Chris Ronalds AO SC and this panel will report its findings and recommendations to the boards of both the ASC and Swimming Australia.

Ms Ronalds said there was a significant body of work to be done by the panel, acknowledging the positive response to her appointment.

"There has already been encouraging engagement and this is a great sign people feel confident in the panel and its independence," Ms Ronalds said.

The ASC will provide expert operational support to the panel, particularly on high performance sport matters, including areas such as athlete wellbeing including mental health, culture and leadership, and coach development. This also provides immediate access to AIS support services for athlete mental health and wellbeing.
