Information caravan following South Yarra shooting

Police will hold an information caravan in South Yarra tonight as part of an ongoing investigation into an incident where a shot was fired in the suburb last month., Victoria Police say

Investigators have been told that a man was in a car in Bromby Street and being held against his will on Wednesday, 24 August just before 7.30pm.

It is understood the man managed to run from the car and into bushes nearby when he heard a gunshot.

The man was not injured and hid in the nearby Botanic Gardens until he was able to raise the alarm.

Detectives from Melbourne Embona Taskforce are investigating the incident and will hold an information caravan on Dallas Brookes Drive in the gardens between 5.30pm and 8.30pm tonight.

Investigators are hoping to speak to anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area that night.

Police are also keen to speak to anyone who may have information regarding a blue BMW sedan or black vehicle similar to a Lexus that was seen leaving the scene of the incident.

Detectives are still looking into the circumstances just prior to the incident and a report that the victim met up with the unknown man in a car earlier in the evening in Dorcas Street, South Melbourne.
