Information caravan set up following shooting in Carlton

Armed Crime Squad detectives will set up an information caravan as they continue to appeal for public assistance following a shooting that left a man with a gunshot wound to the leg in Carlton on 23 February, Victoria Police say.

Police have been told a group of men were playing soccer at the rear of an apartment block on Drummond Street about 10.30pm.

The group heard loud bangs and observed four males, perceived to be of African appearance, standing in a nearby basketball court.

All four had their faces covered with bandanas.

Two of the men were armed with firearms, described as a cut down barrel and a long arm, and fired four shots towards the group.

The victim and his friends ran to their cars parked in Drummond Street and fled the scene.

The victim, a 25-year-old Kings Park man realized in the car he had been shot and was taken to hospital in a stable condition but has since been released.

Investigators are keen to speak to any witnesses that were in the Carlton area at the time of the shooting or anyone with information.

An information caravan will be set up today between 7pm-9pm on Drummond Street.

Anyone with information about the shooting incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
