The Crisafulli Government is making Ingham safer with a $400,000 CCTV crime prevention project, to help prevent crime and bolster safety for small businesses.
It is one of the ways the Crisafulli Government is restoring safety where you live, after Labor's weak laws and fewer police created a Youth Crime Crisis.
In Ingham the funding will deliver high-definition solar-powered CCTV, replace outdated cameras, implement a new video management system and upgrade wireless connectivity.
The program will be delivered across four precincts in Ingham, including the Johnstone Street Carpark, and on Lannercost, Cartwright and Herbert Streets.
The boost is part of the Crisafulli Government's Secure Communities Partnership Program and will deter crime through an investment of $9.6 million in critical prevention measures across the State, to help make Queensland safer.
Premier David Crisafulli said the Crisafulli Government was delivering the fresh start Queenslanders voted for, exactly as promised.
"We're making Ingham safer by helping prevent crime before it happens with new and upgraded CCTV program to bolster safety for small businesses," Premier Crisafulli said.
"We're delivering stronger laws, more police, early intervention and rehabilitation, with crime prevention an important part of our plan.
"Businesses are the backbone of Queensland, and we're proud to back them to deliver improved safety and protection as part of our Small and Family Business First approach.
"While we are seeing crime down and victim numbers down, there is much more to be done to make Queensland safer, and we remain committed to delivering the fresh start we promised."
Hinchinbrook Mayor Ramon Jayo thanked the Government for helping boost safety for Ingham.
"Small businesses have worn the worst of youth crime here in Ingham, and this will help prevent the crime before it reaches their doors," Mayor Jayo said.
"By helping prevent antisocial behaviour and crime it helps keeps the doors of local businesses open and our local economy strong.
"This program is being delivered thanks to the support of the Crisafulli Government, and it will help make Ingham safer.
"Having upgraded CCTV in these known hot spots can make all the difference, not only as a deterrent, but also to make our community more liveable for longtime locals and newcomers coming to reside in our district."
