Injured rafter rescued – Franklin River, TAS

At approximately 5:00pm 8/1/2017 police were notified by satellite phone of an injured 35 year old woman from NSW in an area known as Fincham Crossing on the Franklin River, Tasmania Police say.

The woman was part of a group of five people attempting to raft the river and had sustained an ankle injury.

The party had stopped to camp overnight at that location and decided that it was unsafe for the female to continue.  She was collected by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter at approximately 9:30am 9/1/2017.  She has been taken to Hobart for further treatment.
