Inland Rail Board Visits Toowoomba Region

The board of Inland Rail Pty Ltd has paid a visit to the Toowoomba Region, gathering for a meeting of the board and attending a civic reception hosted by Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC).

Toowoomba Region Mayor Geoff McDonald said the board's visit was important given Toowoomba's central role to the success and national benefit of Inland Rail.

"We were honoured to host the board for a civic reception this week and to have them gather here in our region to see firsthand the emergence of a major freight and logistics hub, supported by substantial private investment and intermodal infrastructure already under development.

"Our region sits at the heart of the Border to Gowrie and Gowrie to Kagaru sections. No other location better demonstrates the transformative potential of this nationally significant project," Mayor McDonald said.

"Toowoomba Region has long shown strong support for the benefits of Inland Rail. While we recognise and champion the full vision of a Melbourne to Brisbane connection, our advocacy has been clear and consistent, Get it to Gowrie and Take it to Toowoomba.

"Delivering the line to Toowoomba first provides certainty, safeguards progress into Queensland and ensures that national economic benefits are realised sooner rather than later," he said.

"The presence of the Inland Rail board here this week provided an opportunity for continued discussions and collaboration."
