Inmate charged over assault at Goulburn

An inmate has been charged after allegedly assaulting a corrections officer at a Goulburn facility last month.

About 11am on Monday 9 March 2020, the 52-year-old male officer was performing duties at the facility when he was cut on the arm.

The officer suffered minor injuries and later sought medical treatment.

Officers from The Hume Police District were notified and attended the facility, speaking with a male inmate.

A makeshift weapon was seized for forensic examination.

Following inquiries, officers issued the 34-year-old inmate with a court attendance notice Saturday (14 March 2020), for the offence of assault law enforcement officer (not police) inflict actual bodily harm.

He is due to appear at Goulburn Local Court today (Wednesday 29 April 2020).
