Inquiries underway after elderly woman robbed in Blacktown

Police are investigating after an elderly woman was robbed at Blacktown today, NSW Police say.

Officers were told about 2pm today, a 73-year-old woman was walking along Warrick Lane when a man approached her from behind.

He grabbed the woman’s handbag causing her to fall to the ground and was last seen running off with the handbag towards Sunnyholt Road.

The woman was assessed by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Blacktown Hospital in a stable condition.

A crime scene was established and officers from Blacktown Local Area Command would like to speak with a man who may be able to assist with inquiries.

He is described as being of Mediterranean / Middle Eastern or Indian Sub-Continental appearance, about 20 to 30 years-old with black hair and was wearing all black clothing.
