Inquiries underway into single-vehicle crash at Liverpool

Two people have been hospitalised following a crash involving a stolen vehicle in Sydney's south west overnight

Emergency services were called to Elizabeth Drive, Liverpool, just before 1.30am (Monday 21 June 2021), after reports a Hyundai i20 lost control and hit a power pole.

Flames in the engine bay were extinguished by witnesses before the arrival of emergency services.

The driver, a 17-year-old male, was freed after being trapped. He was treated by paramedics and taken to Liverpool Hospital with suspected leg fractures. He remains in a stable condition.

A 17-year-old female passenger was also taken to Liverpool Hospital for treatment.

Officers from Liverpool Police Area Command have commenced an investigation with inquiries revealing the Hyundai was reportedly stolen from a Prestons address yesterday (Sunday 20. June 2021).

Police are also conducting inquiries to identify two further passengers who reportedly fled following the collision.

Elizabeth Drive was closed in both directions, between Marsden Road and Mclean Street, while the fallen power pole was replaced.
