Intercept leads to drug arrest

Police have arrested and charged a Wyndham North man with drugs offences following a traffic intercept in Werribee last week.

Westgate Highway Patrol officers noticed a Harley Davidson allegedly travelling at 94km/h in a 60km/h section of Alfred Road on Tuesday 8 March.

Officers attempted to intercept the bike and the rider pulled over to the side of the road but attempted to run from police.

A 32-year-old Wyndham Vale man was arrested by police a short time later and it is alleged police found drugs, cash and other paraphernalia in the man's backpack.

The bike was also found to be bearing false numberplates and was seized.

The man has been charged with drugs and traffic offences and was remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrate's Court on 19 May.
