An interfaith environmental action took place in Karagach Park in Bishkek, bringing together members of the Interfaith Council of Kyrgyzstan to plant trees as part of the city-wide greening initiative "Preserving Spiritual Values through Care for Nature."
The event was initiated by the State Agency for Religious Affairs and Interethnic Relations under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic and organized in co-operation with the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek, the environmental organization MoveGreen, and religious communities across the country.
The initiative aimed to strengthen interfaith dialogue by bringing together representatives of different religious denominations on a common platform, while also promoting environmental protection and fostering ecological awareness. More than 100 participants took part in the activity.
In his opening remarks, the Head of the State Agency for Religious Affairs and Interethnic Relations, T.N. Tashibekov, highlighted the important role of religious organizations in promoting social cohesion and encouraging responsible attitudes toward the environment. He also emphasized the significance of the Interfaith Council of Kyrgyzstan in strengthening unity and mutual understanding in society.
Representatives of the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek and the MoveGreen public foundation also addressed participants, underlining the importance of environmental responsibility and collective action in addressing environmental challenges.
The organizers noted that such initiatives contribute to strengthening interfaith dialogue, promoting social cohesion, and increasing environmental awareness among citizens.
