Key facts
Quarterly goods and services by country
- Total exports of goods and services for the March 2026 quarter were $31.4 billion, up from $29.8 billion in the March 2025 quarter.
- Total imports of goods and services for the March 2026 quarter were $29.5 billion, up from $27.4 billion in the March 2025 quarter.
- The total two-way trade for the March 2026 quarter was $60.9 billion.

Total services exports rose $1.6 billion to $11.5 billion in the March 2026 quarter compared with the March 2025 quarter.
The top movements of our services export categories in the March 2026 quarter compared with the March 2025 quarter were:
- travel services, up $1.3 billion to $7.0 billion
- transportation services, up $179 million to $1.4 billion
- other business services, up $170 million to $1.0 billion
- telecommunication services, up $36 million to $511 million
- charges for the use of intellectual property services, down $33 million to $478 million.
Total service imports rose $794 million to $8.9 billion in the March 2026 quarter compared with the March 2025 quarter.
The top movements of our services import categories in the March 2026 quarter compared with the March 2025 quarter were:
- other business services, up $253 million to $1.7 billion
- telecommunication services, up $130 million to $1.2 billion
- personal, cultural, and recreational services, up $124 million to $442 million
- transportation services, up $75 million to $1.8 billion
- travel services, up $73 million to $1.8 billion.
Overseas trade indexes (OTI)
Movements are compared with the December 2025 quarter. All prices are unadjusted; all volumes and values are seasonally adjusted unless otherwise stated.
- The merchandise (goods) terms of trade fell 2.0 percent.
- Export prices for goods fell 2.7 percent and import prices fell 0.7 percent.
- Export volumes for goods rose 2.7 percent and import volumes rose 2.2 percent.
- Export values for goods rose 0.4 percent and import values rose 2.7 percent.
- The services terms of trade rose 4.9 percent.
- Services export prices rose 1.9 percent, while import prices fell 2.8 percent.

The diagram shows two-way trade was up 6.3 percent to $60.9 billion. On the left-hand side of the diagram, total exports were up 5.2 percent to $31.4 billion. Goods exports were down 0.5 percent to $19.9 billion, and services exports were up 17 percent to $11.5 billion. On the right-hand side of the diagram, total imports were up 7.6 percent to $29.5 billion. Goods imports were up 6.7 percent to $20.6 billion, and services imports were up 9.8 percent to $8.9 billion.
