Investigation continues after man seriously assaulted - South Coast

Detectives are appealing for information following a serious assault on the state's South Coast last month.

Police were called to a home on Basin View Parade, Basin View, about 28km south of Nowra, about 3.20am on Sunday 3 May 2020, following reports a man had been assaulted.

On arrival, police found a 28-year-old man lying in the garage suffering serious head injuries and bruising.

A crime scene was established and inquiries commenced into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The man was taken to Shoalhaven Hospital in a critical condition, before being airlifted to a hospital in Sydney with serious head injuries. He remains in hospital and is expected to undergo further surgery.

Strike Force Ardnaree was established by detectives from South Coast Police District to investigate the incident, which is believed to be targeted.

As part of their inquiries, detectives are appealing for anyone who may have seen a small black hatchback in the area around the time of the assault to come forward.

The car is described as being similar to a Suzuki Swift.

South Coast Police District Crime Manager, Detective Inspector Scott Nelson, said police believe the attack was targeted.

"We believe there are people in the community with information about this assault, and we are asking them to come forward and speak to police," Det Insp Nelson said.

"Our investigations to date have revealed there may have been a number of people involved in this attack, and we are leaving no stone unturned.

"We will not tolerate this kind of violent, senseless activity in our community."

Anyone with information, or who may have witnessed any suspicious activity at the time of the incident, is urged to come forward.

Investigations are continuing.

Anyone with information that may assist strike force investigators is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence.
