Investigation into social media reports of attempt abduction, South Australia

Police wish to reassure the community that an investigation into online social media reports of an attempt abduction at Aldinga has found no threat to the public or cause for alarm.

Police were notified of CCTV showing a vehicle approaching a child on a scooter at Aldinga on Thursday afternoon, 7 January.

Police have since located the vehicle and spoken to the all the people involved and are satisfied that there was no malice intended.

While the behaviour may appear suspicious, and police encourage the reporting of suspicious behaviour, we would stress that no actual offence took place.

Police advise that responsible reporting of this incident is vital to avoid generating unnecessary public fear.

The community is encouraged to report any suspicious behaviour so it can be investigated by police by contacting the Police Assistance Line on 131 444 or in an emergency Triple Zero.
