An investigation will commence following a factory fire in Newcastle, NSW Police say.
Emergency services were called to McIntosh Drive, Mayfield West, about 8.45pm yesterday (Thursday 14 December 2017), following reports of a factory fire.
Upon arrival, the factory was found well alight, with Fire & Rescue NSW eventually extinguishing the blaze.
The building received extensive damage; however, no one was inside the building at the time of the fire.
Officers attached to Newcastle City Local Area Command established a crime scene and commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the fire.
It is not yet known if the fire is suspicious, inquiries are continuing.
Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
