Investigation underway into armed robbery - Unanderra

Police are appealing for information following an armed robbery in Unanderra earlier today.

About 4.45am (Monday 9 March 2020) an unknown man rode a motorbike to a service station on Glastonbury Avenue, Unanderra.

The man, allegedly armed with a crowbar, entered the service station and demanded cash and cigarettes from the service station attendant.

The female attendant ran from the store and pushed the man's motorbike over on her way out.

The man allegedly forced the till open using a crowbar and took an amount of cash before fleeing.

The man left the scene on the motorbike, which he initially had trouble re-starting. He was last seen travelling southbound on Glastonbury Road.

Officers from Lake Illawarra Police District attended and established a crime scene.

As inquiries continue, detectives are appealing for anyone who may have seen a motorbike in the Unanderra area earlier today, to come forward.

The man was described as wearing a white full faced helmet, black jacket, blue jeans, white joggers, black backpack and white and blue gloves at the time of the incident.
