Investigations underway after deliberately lit fires cause damage across Glebe

Officers from Leichhardt Police Area Command are investigating a number of fires that appear to have been deliberately lit across Glebe overnight.

About 11.40pm (Monday 15 October 2019), emergency services were called to Norton Street where a fire caused damage to a shop front.

Minutes later, officers responded to calls of a fire on the front veranda of a home on Campbell Street; minor damage was sustained to the exterior and one female resident was evacuated.

Emergency services then responded to calls of a garage fire in Derwent Lane which quickly spread to a neighbouring garage causing extensive damage prior to being extinguished.

Officers were then called to Campbell Street where a terrace was found to be well alight. A male resident was evacuated and taken to hospital for observation.

Soon after, emergency services responded to a car fire on Westmoreland Street.

Multiple crime scenes have been established and a joint investigation has commenced with Fire and Rescue NSW.

Investigators are seeking information from anyone with information that could assist.
