Investment in workplace safety education for farming businesses

NSW Government

The NSW Government and NSW Farmers launched a free program to educate and advise the agriculture industry on workplace safety to reduce farm-related death, injury, and disease.

The Farm Safety Advisory Program is a $2 million NSW Government-funded initiative for all small to medium farming operations in NSW with fewer than 50 workers to develop an effective work health and safety culture and keeping workers safe.

Minister for Better Regulation and Innovation Kevin Anderson said the investment is part of the NSW Government's mission to create a safer and stronger regional NSW.

"The agriculture sector is the backbone of our regional economies and is a significant employer in regional communities. It is imperative as a government we do everything we can to support farm workers and keep them safe," Mr Anderson said.

The first session of the Farm Safety Advisory Program begins on Tuesday 28 September.
