Ipswich, SW Brisbane Face Unlawful Vehicle Use Charges

Detectives have charged six teenagers following an evade police offence overnight in Ipswich.

Police were driving on Learoyd Road at Willawong at 10.40pm when they observed a black Mitsubishi ASX which was allegedly stolen.

Police attempted to intercept the vehicle however it failed to stop and Polair commenced tracking it. The vehicle travelled through Inala and Oxley before heading west on the Ipswich Motorway.

A tyre deflation device was successfully deployed on Brisbane Road at Dinmore at 11.10pm.

The vehicle returned to the motorway heading inbound before it came to a stop on the Ipswich Motorway in Wacol.

The 13-year-old male driver and the five occupants were taken into police custody.

Police will allege that the vehicle was stolen from a carpark on Eastern Road at Browns Plains, on the night of May 16.

A 13-year-old boy has been charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a vehicle, unlawful use of motor vehicle and evade police.

Another 13-year-old boy, a 14-year-old boy and two boys and a girl all aged 15, were each charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

All the boys have been refused police bail and will appear in Ipswich Childrens Court on May 19.

Anyone who may have seen vehicle or has relevant vision of the black Mitsubishi ASX is asked to contact police.
