A strong sense of solidarity and sentiment honoured the Anzac memory as many gathered for 16 services in the Isaac region on Sunday, 25 April 2021.
Hundreds gathered for dawn and morning services from the beach at Greenhill to the community parade at Clermont in the Isaac region's west with Dysart, Moranbah, Middlemount, St Lawrence, Carmila, Coppabella and Glenden in between.
Isaac Regional Council Mayor Anne Baker praised the amount of young people carrying on the Anzac tradition and offered solemn recognition toward those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
"The names of fallen soldiers are not only etched in bronze and stone on memorials across Isaac, but also in the collective consciousness of a grateful nation," Mayor Baker said.
"Anzac Day remains a defining moment in the shared history of Australia and New Zealand.
"That legacy lives on, with the qualities of mateship, courage and sacrifice embodied by those first Anzacs very much defining our national character and what it is to be Australian.
"The Anzacs – and all the men and women who have served our nation before and since – remain a role model for us today, demonstrating endurance, courage and resilience.
"We honour all the men and women who have served in Australian forces, and we honour especially those who still serve today. To them, we say sincerely – thank you for your service."
The services were held in partnership with local RSL groups and community organisations.
