Issues Identified With QPS Glock Handguns

The Queensland Police Service (QPS) is making arrangements for all Service-issued Glock handguns to be tested as a priority.

These arrangements follow proactive testing already undertaken to confirm the ongoing serviceability of the fleet.

An issue identified in that testing related to a malfunction which could result in the potential for multiple shots to be fired when the Glock is discharged.

As a result, further testing is being progressed to provide additional confidence.

At this time, there have been no operational incidents identified in connection with Service-issued Glock handguns.

Testing is being conducted across all regions, commands and divisions in the interests of officer and community safety.

Firearms that meet the testing requirements will be returned to service.

Any firearms that do not meet the required standards and checks will be held and removed from operational use.

The QPS is separately working with suppliers to rectify the issue.
