It's time for Federal Labor to back regional jobs and Queensland communities

The refusal by the new leadership of the Federal Labor Party to support jobs and regional communities in Queensland by backing the Adani Carmichael mine and the expansion of the North Galilee Basin shows the Opposition has learnt little from its poor showing in Queensland in the election ten days ago.

Labor should be unequivocal in its support for Adani and Queensland coal jobs.

Instead of questioning the economic viability of the Carmichael mine and other prospects in the North Galilee Basin, Anthony Albanese and Richard Marles should welcome the thousands of new regional jobs and long-term investment in the mine and rail infrastructure in Queensland as a result of new mines being developed.

The Carmichael mine will generate billions of dollars for taxpayers over decades to fund nurses, teachers, police, hospitals, roads and other services and infrastructure for Queensland families and communities.
