Youth Week 2022 is shaping up to be a huge week of fun COVID safe events for young people in the Cessnock Local Government Area. In fact, it's so big Council has turned Youth Week – April 4-14 – into youth month with a program of events kicking off on March 29 until April 21.

Themed "It Starts With You'th", this year's program includes Big Breakfasts at Kurri Kurri, Cessnock and Mount View High Schools. Also on the program is a skate jam, fun fair, cooking classes, a gaming event and jewellery making.

And, if you are thinking of up-skilling, Youth Week has you covered with Barista training courses, and even a power tools training session. In all, there are 24 action packed, free youth friendly events to help celebrate and empower Cessnock youth.

Cessnock City Council Mayor Jay Suvaal said Youth Week shone a light on the importance of supporting and acknowledging young people in the Cessnock LGA.

"This is a great program of events that will introduce young people to new and positive experiences," Councillor Suvaal said.

"Youth Week is an opportunity for Cessnock's young people to come together to express themselves and maybe even learn something new.

"I encourage all young people in the Cessnock LGA to get involved with this year's program."
