It's High Time for Bacchus Spring High Tea

Bacchus

But first, how did High Tea come to be?

Looking for the most elegant High Tea in Brisbane, to perhaps sit and reflect on the past two weeks, and to gather your friends and celebrate life? Featuring a continuous pour of Harney & Sons fine teas and using the very finest William Edwards bone China from England - the same crockery used at The Goring, where the Queen Mother enjoyed taking High Tea - the Bacchus High Tea is elegant, and relaxed, with a little twist.

A very English tradition, how did High Tea come to be?

In the mid-19th Century, Anna Russell the 7th Duchess of Bedford experienced something many of us feel during the late afternoon – 'that sinking feeling'. Her solution? A lovely pot of tea and nibbling on some cakes and sandwiches with her close companions. Soon other social hostesses realised it was a wonderful way to enjoy the company of their loved ones (whilst also eating the most delightful sweet creations) and so the English High Tea was born!

Fast-forward 150 years and that time-honored tradition has come full circle. Whilst most of us aren't royalty, one can agree that a marvelous way of eliminating 'that sinking feeling' is by spending quality time with loved ones over a cup of tea (or glass of sparkling) and a selection of delicious delicacies!

The elegant surroundings of Bacchus provide the perfect setting for this quintessential experience while the key to a proper English High Tea, is attention to detail.

The Bacchus High Tea is inventive and unique, whilst paying homage to the traditional English High Tea, including such delicacies as the Classic Lemon Meringue Tart (a must have), freshly backed scones and jam and cream (of course), free range egg salad finger sandwich with watercress (the classic), roast beef, cheddar and Branston pickle sandwich on tomato bread (a twist on the English version), and modern taste tempters like The Tiramisu Sphere and the Pistachio & Cherry Entremet.

Vegans and those with specific dietary needs can relax, the Bacchus team is more than happy to accommodate dietary requirements at no additional cost.

The Bacchus High Tea is available every Saturday and Sunday and can include a continuous two-hour Chandon Brut NV pour. Reservations can be made by emailing zach
