The Tasmanian Government will today bring on the debate to establish a Select Committee to interrogate the sale of Rushy Lagoon.
Minister for Primary industries and Water, Gavin Pearce, said we have listened to the concerns raised by TasFarmers and the broader agricultural community loud and clear.
"Regional communities have been very upfront about their worries, and they deserve answers," Minister Pearce said.
"This process has been distorted by the Federal Government, and our farmers deserve certainty around their productive agricultural land.
"We need answers to questions about the impact on food production, agricultural employment, regional investment and opportunities for future agricultural ownership.
"There are serious questions that need serious answers, and it's time state Labor got on board.
"Janie Finlay has talked tough online, saying she doesn't agree with the decision.
"Will she do the right thing for Tasmanian farmers? Or will Janie and Tasmanian Labor keep running cover for Canberra."
