Kiama Council engineers and our contractors, Civil and Civic, have had a busy first week at the work site on Jamberoo Mountain Road.

Civil and Civic have been establishing the site and moving in their equipment.

They've also conducted their first walk-through with our engineers to assess and discuss potential challenges and opportunities.

The challenges are the limited operating space due to the steep terrain.

The opportunities include implementing the designs in a way that minimises impacts on other parts of the road, surrounding land and streams, maximises the lifespan of the repairs, and allows the work to be done as quickly as possible.

Council is spending $4.24 million to repair Jamberoo Mountain, Wallaby Hill Road, Foxground Road, Cliff Drive and Gipps Street, which were all damaged during storms and flooding in March and July 2022.

The NSW and Australian Government are providing funding for this project through the NSW Disaster Assistance initiative.

Jamberoo Mountain Road will remain closed to all traffic until the repairs are completed.
